Cais do Sodré used to be this dark, somewhat sleazy place that you really shoe bench wouldn’t want to go to at night. No recommendable shoe bench things could come out of that place past 22:00. That was about five years ago, and I’m telling you about this because I don’t really think any other place in this neighborhood could capture shoe bench this transformation better than this one.
Adega dos Canários was (and it still is) a tavern. Years ago, it was your typical hole-in-the-wall, dingy place where you would go for extra cheap wine and conversation with the owner. And now, it is reborn in all its glory as a light and inviting place where I feel like spending shoe bench every evening having an aperitif and chatting with friends.
It’s not just the fact that the staff is adorable and kind, nor is it the fact that the food is a delicious mix of Italian and typical Portuguese (try the bruschetta shoe bench trio, you definitely won’t regret it!) - it’s mostly the welcoming environment, like you’re at a friends’ place, that makes me want to go back.
